About Joan Lee

After exploring other parts of the United States, I came to the Bay Area, embraced the spirit of California fully and declared that this would be my home. After working at various engineering firms for 20 years, I left the last job and began to explore what I would do next. Weaving together my lifelong interest in art and love of gardening and caring for plants, I enrolled in Environmental Horticulture and Design program at Foothill College and completed the certificate program. Creative Garden Works was started in 2012 to create water-wise gardens.

I have been creating living design in the Bay Area and Mid-Peninsula. The heart of my work is expressed through the colors, textures, and wonder of living plants and trees. I am excited to work with you to create new gardens and enhance the beauty of established gardens.
